GE Vernova Consulting Services, as part of the larger GE Vernova organization, offers a wide range of solutions across a spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization to both internal Vernova businesses and external customers at the global level. Our Power Systems Strategy team offers detailed engineering and economic analyses focused on the financial and physical operation of electric power systems. This includes generation and grid planning, system optimization, resource adequacy and reliability, asset valuation and market economic fundamental analysis, and energy policy implications, amongst others.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

As a member of the GEV Consulting Services - Power Systems Strategy team, a successful candidate will contribute to consulting and advisory services across the electric power industry and support GE Vernova business initiatives related to power systems equipment, services, and strategy. In particular a successful candidate will be required to:

  • Assist in performing power system studies such as production cost modeling, system reliability, capacity adequacy analysis, and long-term planning.

  • Develop, maintain, and apply detailed power system simulation models for the energy industry for customer planning and investment objectives, evaluating impacts of structural changes in electricity markets.

  • Effectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparing written detailed and summary reports and making presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions.

  • Support GE businesses and customers in the areas of wind and solar integration, smart grid optimization, distributed energy resources, energy storage, asset utilization, new product initiatives, and challenges to the utility business model.

  • Be a self-starter, seeking out opportunities to learn and contribute across a portfolio of projects.

  • Actively participate in a diverse and global working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation are essential.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar.

  • Demonstrated interest in the energy space.

  • 0-3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: electric power systems engineering, energy market design and operations, generation/transmission planning or operations, wholesale power trading, and energy market consulting.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to present findings of analytical studies to a wide range of industry stakeholders.

Desired:

  • MBA or Master’s/PhD Degree in Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, or similar.

  • Experience with power system reliability/resource adequacy models (GE MARS, SERVM, Plexos, or equivalent Monte-Carlo simulation tools) and/or energy economic/production cost models (GE MAPS, Plexos, GridView, PROMOD, Aurora, or similar)

  • Programming experience (Python, SQL, MATLAB, etc.)
