Atlas Consultant Construction Inspector in Remote, South Carolina

Position : Consultant Construction Inspector

Location : Remote, SC

We are seeking a Construction Inspector to work in South Carolina on SCDOT projects ! Come join us!

This position may perform highly technical and specialized inspection and testing procedures in the areas of concrete, foundations, soils, earthwork, asphalt roadway, asphalt plant, erosion control, signal installations, survey verification, etc. on various construction projects for the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and may report to the SCDOT's Resident Construction Engineer on projects statewide.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring the work of the contractor to ensure compliance with the plans and specifications as well as sampling and testing procedures as outlined in the SCDOT's Construction Manual.

  • Recording the daily work documenting the type and location of work performed and all pertinent details relative to the progress of the work

  • Verifying that construction estimates match quantities installed by the contractor and making recommendations for payment.

  • (CEI) Construction Engineering & Inspection

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent plus two (2) years’ experience in construction inspection, one (1) year of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection

  • (CEI) Construction Engineering & Inspection

Technical Requirements:

  • Consultant inspectors will be required to be certified in the particular area in which they will be Required SCDOT certifications, one or more of the following: Concrete Level 1 or Level 2, Asphalt Roadway Technician, Asphalt (HMA) Level 1, Earthwork/Base, Foundations, Pavement Preservation

  • Ability to read and interpret applicable plans, specifications, and inspection procedures

  • Knowledge of highway construction, inspection procedures, and materials testing

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway

  • Ability to take detailed notes and prepare and review reports

Other Miscellaneous Qualities:

  • Ability to travel, if so what % of the time
