Job Summary

Battelle’s Defense & Material Solutions business line is seeking a Data Scientist with experience with the Joint Mission Environment Testing Capability (JMETC). This position is contingent on program award.

As Data Integration Analyst JMETC, you will support test infrastructure test performance analysis and reporting, necessary to support expansion of joint distributed test events and effectively integrating live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) test resources. You will assist in the development of integration recommendations to expand the use of JMETC environments across the DoD RDT&E communities. You will work closely work with scientists, physicists, electrical & mechanical engineers, network & computer engineers and cybersecurity experts within Battelle’s Defense & Material Solutions business line to understand customer needs and design novel solutions in support of the DoD’s Test Resource Management Center (TRMC) and the JMETC’s distributed test & evaluation capability. Tasks may vary from descriptions or statistics to advanced insights on complex and heterogenous data streams.

The desired position location is at our Columbus, OH office with flexibility to work remotely or from other Battelle and Client Offices within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • As part of a multi-discipline team, leads analysis and interprets data collected and writes various reports or sections of reports/presentations toward the integration and reuse of testing, training, and simulation capabilities that require real-time collaboration between distributed systems within diverse testing and training environments.

  • Development of software tools using statistical machine learning capabilities and advanced algorithms to analyze large datasets; identifying trends, patterns, and insights that inform decision-making.

  • May perform and provide support for data management, mining, and visualization.

  • Works effectively with engineers, testers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

  • May provide technical leadership to and coordinate the efforts of other team members in the performance of assigned activities within time and budget constraints.

  • Assists with project definition and planning efforts as needed. Contribute to the development of technical approach, contributions and assessments of level of effort required for components of work.

  • Builds relationships with internal and external clients and presents research results. May communicate with client about the schedule and quality of deliverables.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field with 5 years of experience, or master’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience or PhD, or equivalent combination of education and or experience in related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in data integration, analysis, preferably within a defense environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in data management and visualization tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, MATLAB.

  • Proven track record of managing complex data integration and analysis projects and activities.

  • Highly effective team communication and collaboration practices – effectively engaging with all levels of internal and external program members.

  • Knowledgeable of and compliant with classified information and government security protocols.

  • Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of JMETC and Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) and their application
