Responsibilities:

Junior-level:

  • Analyzes cybersecurity requirements, technologies, risks, and issues

  • Assists in designing security solutions, defenses, and mitigation approaches

  • Provides independent assessments and identify security vulnerabilities with recommendations

  • Supports Incident Response and Risk and Vulnerability Assessment activities

  • Perform, lead, and coordinate activities for the development of complex information technology systems and applications

  • Applies business process improvement practices to engineer methodologies and principles

  • Evaluates hardware and software and assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures

  • Engages in systems planning, performance management, capacity planning, testing, validation, and benchmarking

  • Contributes to information engineering and systems engineering plans

  • Collaborates with senior team members on larger cybersecurity projects and initiatives

Intermediate level:

  • Analyzes and evaluates complex cybersecurity requirements, technologies, risks, and issues

  • Designs and implements security solutions, defenses, and mitigation approaches

  • Provides independent assessments and identify security vulnerabilities with detailed recommendations

  • Leads and support Incident Response and Risk and Vulnerability Assessment activities

  • Perform, lead, and coordinate the development of complex information technology systems and applications

  • Applies business process improvement practices to engineer methodologies and principles

  • Evaluates hardware and software, and establish standards for information systems procedures

  • Engages in systems planning, performance management, and capacity planning

  • Conducts testing, validation, and benchmarking of security systems and processes

  • Contributes to information engineering and systems engineering plans

  • Mentors junior team members and contribute to team's professional development

Senior-level:

  • Leads the analysis and evaluation of complex cybersecurity requirements, technologies, risks, and issues

  • Designs and oversees the implementation of advanced security solutions, defenses, and mitigation approaches

  • Provides expert-level independent assessments and identify critical security vulnerabilities with strategic recommendations

  • Lead and enhance Incident Response and Risk and Vulnerability Assessment programs

  • Spearhead and coordinate the development of complex information technology systems and applications

  • Apply and innovate business process improvement practices to engineer methodologies and principles

  • Evaluates cutting-edge hardware and software, establishing enterprise-wide standards for information systems procedures

  • Leads systems planning, performance management, and capacity planning initiatives

  • Oversees testing, validation, and benchmarking of security systems and processes

  • Drives information engineering and systems engineering plans

  • Mentors junior and intermediate team members, fostering a culture of cybersecurity excellence

Subject Matter Expert/SME level:

  • Serves as the primary authority on cybersecurity, analyzing advanced requirements, technologies, risks, and issues

  • Design and architect innovative security solutions, defenses, and mitigation approaches

  • Provides expert-level independent assessments and identify critical security vulnerabilities with strategic recommendations

  • Leads and enhance enterprise-wide Incident Response and Risk and Vulnerability Assessment programs

  • Spearhead and coordinate the development of complex information technology systems and applications

  • Apply and innovate business process improvement practices to engineer cutting-edge methodologies and principles

  • Evaluates emerging hardware and software technologies, establishing enterprise-wide standards for information systems procedures

  • Leads strategic systems planning, performance management, and capacity planning initiatives

  • Oversees advanced testing, validation, and benchmarking of security systems and processes

  • Drives innovation in information engineering and systems engineering plans

  • Mentors senior team members and develop the next generation of cybersecurity leaders

Qualifications:

Required:

Junior:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree)

  • 0-3 years of experience in cybersecurity or related IT role

  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies

  • Familiarity with common security tools and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies

Intermediate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree)

  • 3-8 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity

  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies

  • Proficiency in security tools, frameworks, and methodologies (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK)

  • Experience with incident response and vulnerability assessment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and project management skills

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Senior:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (Master's preferred)

  • 8-11 years of extensive experience in cybersecurity

  • Expert knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and emerging technologies

  • Advanced proficiency in security tools, frameworks, and methodologies (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK)

  • Proven experience leading incident response and vulnerability assessment teams • Strong leadership and project management skills • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Subject Matter Expert/SME:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field

  • 12+ years of extensive experience in cybersecurity leadership roles

  • Recognized expert-level knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and emerging technologies

  • Advanced proficiency in multiple security tools, frameworks, and methodologies

  • Proven track record of leading large-scale cybersecurity initiatives and incident response teams

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide at the executive level

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including C-level executives

Desired:

Junior:

  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, CEH)

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell)

  • Familiarity with network protocols and architecture

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, PCI DSS)

  • Understanding of risk management principles

Intermediate:

  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, OSCP)

  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, C++)

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, PCI DSS, FISMA)

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools

Senior:

  • Advanced cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC)

  • Experience with cloud security architecture and implementation

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and scripting (e.g., Python, C++, PowerShell)

  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in cybersecurity

  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity regulations and compliance requirements

  • Experience in DevSecOps and secure SDLC practices

Subject Matter Expert/SME:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field

  • Executive-level cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP-ISSAP, CISM, GIAC GSE)

  • Experience with AI/ML applications in cybersecurity

  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity regulations and compliance requirements

  • Published research or books in the field of cybersecurity

  • Speaking engagements at major industry conferences

  • Experience in shaping cybersecurity policies and standards at the national level

Since this position can be worked in more than one location, the range shown is the national average for the position.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$62,800-$128,600
