The Opportunity:
CACI’s Agile Digital Solutions Group is seeking a Cloud Architect interested in growing their career with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) team! NCAPS is an effort to consolidate current application support and transform IT capability delivery across the NASA enterprise including general IT, customer support, information management, and mission support systems.
This Cloud Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization's cloud computing strategy, selecting appropriate cloud providers, establish best practices for cloud adoption, and ensuring cloud systems function smoothly with minimal downtime, by evaluating and optimizing cloud infrastructure, applications, and security to meet business needs; work closely with IT teams to migrate on-premise applications to the cloud including lift and shift.
Responsibilities:
Cloud strategy development: Define the overall cloud adoption plan, including selecting the most suitable cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) based on business and IT requirements.
Cloud architecture design: Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures for applications, including network topology, storage solutions, and compute resources.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize automation tools to provision and manage cloud infrastructure through code, ensuring consistency and repeatability.
Cost optimization: Monitor cloud usage and identify opportunities to optimize costs by right-sizing instances, utilizing reserved instances, and implementing cost-saving strategies.
Security planning: Implement robust security measures within the cloud environment, including access controls, data encryption, and vulnerability management.
Compliance management: Ensure cloud operations adhere to relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
Migration planning: Lead the migration of existing applications and data to the cloud, including assessment, planning, and execution.
Collaboration with teams: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to integrate cloud solutions with existing systems.
Performance monitoring and optimization: Monitor cloud performance metrics and identify areas for improvement to maintain high availability and system reliability.
Mentorship and Training: Providing technical guidance and training to other cloud engineers within the team.
Qualifications:
Required:
U.S. Citizenship is required
Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years relevant experience (education/experience substitution can be considered)
Deep understanding of cloud platforms: Expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) including their services, features, APIs, and best practices.
Architectural design principles: Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and scalable design patterns.
Networking expertise: Understanding of network concepts like VPCs, subnetting, routing, load balancing, and firewalls.
Security knowledge: Familiarity with cloud security best practices, compliance requirements, identity management, and threat modeling within the federal government
Automation skills: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
Problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to diagnose technical issues, analyze complex systems, and propose effective solutions
Communication and collaboration skills: Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Certifications: AWS/Azure/GCP - Certified Solutions Architect

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$104,200-$229,200
