Microsoft Corporation Software Security Engineer II in Redmond, Washington

Our team is looking for someone who is creative, energetic, and driven to make a significant impact for Microsoft customers and help secure storage data from the next generation of cyber security attacks.

Azure Storage is a foundational service in the Azure Cloud which powers six key storage services: Blob Storage, Table Storage (NoSQL Key Value store), Queue Storage, Data Lake Storage, File Storage, and Disk Storage. These services host data from some of the largest companies in the world and support all of Microsoft’s largest online businesses including Xbox, Office365, and Bing while scaling to store many exabytes of customer data.

As a Software Security Engineer II, you will be helping build the next generation of toolsets and customer features which help make the platform and customer storage accounts more secure. The candidate will have hands-on experience with native/managed code, familiarity with penetration testing (code audit, writing fuzzers, finding creative ways to break assumptions), a clear understanding of security fundamentals, solid computer science skills, and a passion for keeping Microsoft customers safe.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test and document features that make storage accounts more secure for our customers.

  • Improve existing design and code, find solutions to complex problems in a highly scalable distributed environment.

  • Participate in security reviews to identify and mitigate risk in storage features, including design reviews, code reviews, and fuzzing.

  • Participate and provide high quality feedback in design reviews, code reviews and other team activities.

  • Work well with others and be a positive influence on the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Windows, PowerShell, Python or .NET

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience in developing with C#/C++/Windows.

  • 2+ years of experience with multi-threaded/parallel programming and building scalable, distributed services.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Passion for security, engineering and development skills required including C#/.NET with proven ability to plan, schedule and deliver quality software

  • 2+ years of experiences with Security domain and architechture.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
