We are looking for Senior Software Engineering Manager(s) to help drive innovation and excellence. As an engineering manager on the team, you will improve services by leveraging some of the latest innovations in Microsoft software and Azure hardware. This is a dynamic role that involves both technical knowledge and collaborative skills to contribute to the modernization and enhancement of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's cloud services.

This Hybrid Position is located at our Microsoft office in Redmond, Washington . Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance.

  • Collaborate across partner teams in Microsoft.

  • Lead and grow a team of high performing engineers.

  • Mentor, coach, hire, retain and grow top talent.

  • Taking part in code reviews, both as a reviewer and a reviewee, to ensure the quality of the software and promote best practices within the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years people management experience of a software team

  • 4+ years industry experience on large scale system architecture, design, development, testing and release of full product lifecycle

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
