Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the infrastructure automation team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation tools utilized by hundreds of engineers across the organization. You will collaborate closely with partner teams to gather requirements, provide feedback on existing systems, and design innovative solutions to enhance deployment efficiency and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation tools for orchestrating the deployment of services across various regions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide feedback on existing infrastructure automation systems.

  • Architect and implement innovative solutions to automate validation processes and enable fully-automated deployments.

  • Develop and maintain integrations with Microsoft proprietary and cloud-native deployment frameworks.

  • Design and implement observability tools to enable application teams to collect telemetry and monitor the health of compute clusters.

  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of automation tools to meet the evolving needs of the organization.

  • Provide technical guidance to team members.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of professional experience developing on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field and 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

  • Professional experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and related tools.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
