Job Information
Microsoft Corporation Senior Program Manager in Redmond, Washington
Microsoft Azure Edge + Platform (E+P) is a globally distributed team of engineers, architects, program managers, product managers, business program managers, business administrators, user experience researchers and designers who are responsible for the platform for Microsoft and for delivering Microsoft’s edge vision. We create the most reliable and trustworthy operating systems and platform services to empower Microsoft and our customers to achieve more. We unlock the next wave of opportunity at the edge through an at-scale ecosystem driving widespread adoption of our Microsoft cloud services.
We are the Enterprise and Security team at Microsoft, and we’re looking for a Senior Program Manager who can define and deliver security solutions for critical edge workloads, such as AI and ML. Our customers manage their ‘edge’ workloads (applications), which run in their own premises, as extensions of their Azure cloud applications. This creates huge development and operational benefits – customers can build, run, and monitor their applications in the same way, and consume the same Azure services, wherever they are physically located. However, this also creates new security challenges: to what degree can we protect these critical edge workloads in the same way as when they run in Microsoft’s own data centers?
Come join a team where you’ll:
Help make the world more secure, by strengthening Microsoft platforms that are used by developers everywhere
Deliver ‘security through usability’, by ensuring an easy-to-adopt experience for developers and operators
Work with a friendly, diverse peer group who have a shared commitment to a culture of respect, integrity, and accountability, while distributed across timezones
Partner with, and learn from, experts in product teams across the company
Grow your career by creating clarity about customer needs, proposing changes to our products, and generating energy to deliver them successfully
Responsibilities
Discover the security-related problems faced by developers and operators of Azure edge workloads, especially AI workloads and related technologies. Create clarity by asking incisive questions, listening carefully to the answers, and combining your resulting insights with other sources of research and analysis.
Work with the engineering team to architect solutions to these problems that are both usable and technically feasible.
Validate that the solution truly solves the problem for customers, and also meets the needs of the business.
Prioritize these validated solutions in team backlogs based on a broad and nuanced understanding of their likely value and cost.
Participate in the release of these solutions. Create compelling customer communications and documentation. Generate energy in your partnerships with individual engineers and other PMs, building relationships across different organizations, setting clear expectations, and identifying and resolving issues.
Become a recognized team expert in AI security, able to perform hands-on experiments and to share learnings with other team members.
Help to foster increasing the diversity of thought and ideas within the group
