Microsoft Corporation Senior Policy Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

MSN serves personalized, engaging and diverse content to millions of customers on Windows and Edge Browser. Our mission is to provide a safe and harm free environment for the millions of customers who utilize the platform. We are responsible for building a content platform with over 7000 active brands worldwide to captivate the attention of our millions of daily active users. We have defined content policies, that anchor our trust and safety team. We have GPT based models that moderate the content to remove harmful content quickly and often before deciding it as suitable for our community users. We are looking to expand in this space to continuously deliver high quality content experience.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Program Manager to join our team. This candidate will have a deep understanding of online safety, content moderation, and policy development. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Development: Develop, implement, and refine trust and safety policies to ensure a safe and respectful online environment for users.

  • Content Moderation: Oversee and improve content moderation strategies, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate risks related to user and content provider experiences.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with legal, engineering, product, and applied science teams to ensure policies are effectively communicated and enforced.

  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for our vendors and partner teams to enforce, measure and promote best practices in content trust and safety.

  • Monitoring and Reporting: Establish monitoring systems and generate regular reports on policy effectiveness and compliance.

  • Incident Response: Lead response efforts for significant safety incidents and policy violations, ensuring swift and appropriate action.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends and apply this knowledge to improve existing systems and processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in program management, digital content publishing/management, or experience in a writing or editing role

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in policy, Trust and Safety in a technology environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, Communcications, JD or Master's degree in related field

  • 7 years of experience in policy or product.

  • Experience with policy and knowledge of the technology sector and key policy issues affecting content platforms (e.g., harmful content, Misinformation, AI).

  • Experience in prompt development.

  • Experience with product/program management.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in multiple languages.

Content Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
