The MCAPS Business Planning, Strategy & Investments (BPSI) Finance team is seeking a Senior Finance Manager, Business Planning & Strategy to be part of the Solution Area focused team, overseeing part of the product portfolio and driving strategy and execution on headcount resource optimization analytics and the fiscal year blueprint planning process. You will get to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced and fun environment to help drive strategy across all segments leading advanced analytics and develop KPI (Key Performance Indicator) metrics to improve productivity and ROIs (Return on Investments).

Responsibilities

Prioritize

  • Work with the BPSI Finance team, broader MCAPS Finance, and business partners in helping land and support fiscal year blueprint planning for given products/solution areas, as well as evaluate the ROI for investments in the space and land a framework to help the business pivot to meet revenue targets and drive overall business health.

  • Drive investment decisions cross-company (Engineering, MCAPs, CFT [Central Finance Team]) with executives to achieve lower cost of sale/high ROI and improved customer experience. Participate and contribute to deliverables associated with the finance and business rhythm, such as fiscal year planning and quarterly forecast process/executive reviews.

Partnership

  • Serves as Finance contact for business partners for all revenue, expense, and compliance questions related to reporting and analysis. Contributes insights for financial plans, variance analysis, resource optimization, investments, KPIs, long range planning, and driving margin accountability. Manages and executes processes through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Learns and applies the foundational aspects of Microsoft Finance (e.g., financial systems, policies and procedures, key metrics, historical performance, reporting and forecast requirements) and business (e.g., monetization strategy, market, key drivers of profitability) to collect information, perform technical analysis and modeling, and complete standardized reporting.

  • Assembles and summarizes data through data mining and business intelligence to structure reports and financial models for decision support. Leverages statistical analysis, predictive analytics and financial modeling techniques to conduct sophisticated analyses. Acts as subject matter specialist for data management and operations. Understands history of data procurement, location, methods, issues, and actions taken.

  • Improves current methods used in collecting data, developing automated financial reporting and forecasting tools, and creating standard and ad-hoc reports. Learns how advanced technology is leveraged in Finance and across Microsoft to provide greater depth of analysis.

  • Consistently communicates relevant trends and ad-hoc results in a logical and understandable message.

Protect

  • Ensures compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring accuracy of financial documents and business processes; drives corrective measures. Consults with business partners on sharing financial information, approved instruments and processes, and consistency with corporate policies.

  • Drives the right tone from executive leadership and ensures strict adherence and understanding of Microsoft policies on risk and compliance.

  • Influences leadership to ensure compliance is a top priority and modeled throughout the organization.

  • Directs team and holds others accountable to ensure financial control processes, policies, instruments, and procedures are executed.

  • Guides team and encourages others to identify and share risks to compliance and take steps to mitigate.

  • Drives a compliant culture through actions and decisions to instill trust.

  • Collaborates with Compliance groups to ensure team is current on company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or Finance work experience

  • OR Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.

  • 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.

  • 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.

  • Ability to communicate strategy concisely and consistently, leveraging business acumen and presentation skills.

  • Agility and skill in navigating multiple stakeholder requirements, while enabling accelerated growth aspirations in a highly dynamic market environment.

  • Being hyper collaborative and able to use analytical capabilities to drive/deliver rhythms on resource optimization analytics and fiscal year planning/blueprint.

  • Tactical to strategic abilities; Working across a variety of asks and under pressure without compromising on quality.

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
