Amazon Lead Space Simulation Tech-1st Shift, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington
Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Key job responsibilities
Driving and developing departmental continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation.
Operation of environmental test chambers (Thermal cycling, vacuum, HALT/HASS.) Lead process work and review output for quality and adherence to standards and procedures
Assemble tooling and assist with equipment maintenance.
Lead daily team meeting facilitation, end-of-shift reporting, and coordinating efforts to minimize production interruptions.
Support new-hire training programs within your department and contribute to development and modification of training programs. You develop training plans for your team and are responsible for implementing training programs within your department.
Drive safety standards and operations protocol while ensuring team compliance.
Additional Requirements:
Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift time: 7:00AM-3:30PM. Shift will vary, depending on program needs
Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
Willing to move between locations depending on program needs
Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted

A day in the life
The Lead Space Simulation Technician will identify process improvements to improve build efficiency. You will work closely with multiple engineering teams on both early hardware development testing and setting the stage for later production hardware manufacturing processes. The successful candidate thrives in a fast paced, start-up like environment and is able to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills and commitment to quality to positively impact team metrics and organization goals. About the team
We are a group of Technicians with well over 20 years of diverse skills and experience. Each team member brings in willingness to train and positive team energy. Some tasks you may be an individual contributor, but may also work in a group environment to achieve organizational goals. This group of Technicians thrived in success by working as a team. We are currently in research and development but moving towards production environment.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years relevant high traceability manufacturing experience (Aerospace / Medical, etc.)
2+ years of hands-on work in test lab environment, using basic hand tools
2+ years experience in a fast-paced production environment with Flight Hardware
Minimum 2 years of environmental test experience performing at least one of the following:
Vibration Testing
Shock Testing
Acoustic Testing
Thermal Testing
Thermal Vacuum Testing
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years prior leadership experience, to include leading teams, projects or people
Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
Able to read, interpret and work from engineering documentation and/ or drawings
Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
Ability to prioritize work in a complex, fast-paced environment
Proper use and understanding of DMM, torque wrenches, calipers, and other type of measuring devices.
Experience installing instrumentation such as accelerometers, thermocouples etc.
Understanding of 5S and lean principles.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $63,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $104,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
