Microsoft Corporation Business Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure and Operations (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The group is responsible for designing, building, and operating Microsoft’s global datacenters; managing the programmatic delivery of our critical infrastructure design, equipment procurement, construction delivery, infrastructure innovation, demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and responsible for all operations needed to run the physical infrastructure. We focus on smart growth with an emphasis on data-driven engineering, cost‐effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's 200+ online businesses including Azure, Office 365, Bing, Xbox Live, Skype, and OneDrive. The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) office of CO+I is responsible for delivering solutions technical strategy, developing and leverage research, innovation and defining next generation capabilities – telemetry by design. To accomplish this the team must utilize data from every aspect of our business.

We are looking for an experienced Business Program Manager to help meet that demand. This person should be intellectually curious, relentless, and looking for insights in data that can turn into actionable and measurable outcomes. Proven analytical skills, using data to design processes that scale, effective collaboration across internal and external users, and the drive to continuously improve and achieve business objectives will be critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and partner with CTO groups to create Metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) so we can turn into measurable outcomes.

  • Own the intake, monthly review, tooling and quarterly training.

  • Build and maintain tools such as viva goals, PBIs, Azure Dev Ops for intake and tracking KPIs / Metrics to measure against delivery and roadmap.

  • Lead working sessions and discussions with engineers group to establish metrics/KPIs. Acts as a subject matter expert to drive the defining and tracking of success criteria and performance metrics (for example: KPIs, OKRs, etc. ), such as quality, adoption, usage, impact, and effectiveness for the program.

  • Drive - Annual/semester planning with stakeholders and/or engineers. Partner with team delegates and manage the internal and external engagement with the teams for engineer semester planning, engineer intake etc.

  • Design surveys to gain insights into effectiveness of various initiatives. Utilize the data collected to make improvements and enhance the overall experience. Lead programs that will support and enable growth mindset such as hosting learning series,

  • Consolidate, contribute, and review all relevant content and updates for the various reporting. Also, own the depository of technical and non-technical documents .

  • Drive business results through a focus on key performance indicators and business goals, promoting clarity and motivation to the team to execute on time. 

  • Able to speak to practical examples of performance metrics and the development of objectives and key results.  

  • Comfortable in conversation dealing with topics covering all areas of the business

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 4+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvemento OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience in working with engineering, research and dev, and/or innovation team in a technology (or comparable) organization

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proactiveness and a positive outlook and approach to change management

  • Program/Project Management experience with the ability to deal with ambiguity associated with working in a fast paced and changing environment

  • Be able to work under pressure and deadlines, with ability to manage complexity while driving clarity

  • Ability to work effectively throughout the organization and proven record for execution with measurable results

  • Experience in tool viva goals, Azure Dev Ops, Power BI (PBI)

  • Ability to work in a flexible, tech environment

Business Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
