Charter Township of Redford Utility Worker II in Redford Township, Michigan
The Charter Township of Redford's Employees' Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for the position of Utility Worker II.
Salary starting at $23.5328 hourly, plus excellent partial paid benefits including health insurance, defined benefit pension, paid vacation, paid sick leave and 14 paid holidays.
The Utility Worker position is in the Water Department. Employees in this classification repair and maintain water department facilities and equipment and perform related work to support the delivery of Township services. Essential functions for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Install and services water and sewer lines and fire hydrants
Digs trenches for new installation, diagnosis or repair to water and sewer related lines
Operates a variety of hand and powered equipment to affect the installation, diagnosis or repair
Walks a route to obtain and record water meter readings
Performs routine maintenance on meters and other related equipment
Inspects, cleans, maintains and repairs grates, and pumps
Performs general maintenance as required to keep water and sewer lines operational
Refers customer questions, complaints, and issues to the proper supervision
Performs other duties as assigned or required
The minimum requirements for this position include:
- High school diploma / GED.
- One year of working experience.
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver's license with five or fewer points at time of hire.
- Must obtain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) within 90 days of employment.
- Must obtain all medical certificates associated with CDL.
- CDL shall have a group A or B designation.
- CDL shall have an air brake endorsement.
- CDL shall have a tanker endorsement.
- CDL shall remain current throughout course of employment.
- Employee shall possess five or fewer points on driving record.
