Create and review 3D layouts to communicate and confirm lighting assembly designs. Collaborate with styling teams to set feasible directions and fix final designs. Lead part design with suppliers, set design targets, and confirm final design drawings. Understand and ensure designs meet technical requirements. Support part and vehicle verification. Create and implement design countermeasures. Create and communicate design concepts to achieve marketability targets. Estimate and manage part cost including review of supplier quotes for lighting assemblies. Provide project leadership, technical expertise, guidance, and mentoring to less experienced designers. Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Optical Engineering; 3 yrs related professional exp; 3 yrs exterior lighting development exp; 3 yrs exp in CATIA V5 to create 2D technical assembly drawings; 3 yrs exp creating accurate CATIA V5 layouts using both section and surface design methods to communicate and confirm design requirements; 3 yrs exp leading project management to take a design concept from sketch to mass production ready part, Including managing the overall schedule and setting priorities to meet project deadlines; 3 yrs exp identifying and implementing value added cost reductions; 3 yrs exp with staying current on latest marketability trends in exterior lighting including through benchmarking, competitor study, and/or autoshow attendance; 3 yrs exp working with others to estimate assembly cost and tooling investment; 3 yrs exp with worldwide regulations specific to forward and rear lighting; 3 yrs exp reviewing and confirming simulation results including photometric, thermal, vibration, and mold flow; and 3 yrs exp leading feasibility including negotiating with the design studio, vehicle design/test engineers, and suppliers.  May work from any location in Ohio subject to company hybrid work policy.
