Job Description: Instructional Design Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Instructional Design Coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting the development and implementation of instructional design strategies and professional development programs at Hinds Community College. This role enhances teaching and learning by facilitating training, advising faculty, and ensuring the quality of courses across all modalities.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement strategies for instructional design that align with Hinds Community College’s mission and goals, addressing educational needs across all modalities.

  • Stay current with best practices and trends in instructional design and technology-enhanced learning for instruction across all modalities.

Educational Development:

  • Facilitate the New Online Instructor Training course and provide detailed feedback and guided assistance to new faculty.

  • Develop, coordinate, and assist in collaborative training programs for online education cohorts, new faculty orientation, and other instructional professional development initiatives, including in-person faculty development.

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and supervise workshops aimed at improving technology-enhanced teaching and learning across all modalities.

Instructional Design Management:

  • In coordination with the Distance Learning Coordinator, advise and assist faculty in designing courses across all modalities, utilizing instructional technologies and best practices.

  • Implement the Quality Matters assessment process for online courses and assist faculty in assessing and improving core competencies across all course modalities.

  • Coordinate the review of online and in-person programs and courses, including course/instructor surveys, to ensure quality and effectiveness.

Technology Integration:

  • Plan and implement workshops designed to enhance the use of course management systems and other educational technologies across all modalities.

  • Collaborate with the Distance Learning Coordinator and other stakeholders to support faculty in integrating technology into their teaching practices for both modalities.

Quality Assurance and Evaluation:

  • Oversee and support the assessment of online and in-person courses to ensure they meet quality standards and support core competencies in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Assessment.

  • Analyze feedback and data from course/instructor surveys to drive continuous improvement in instructional design and delivery across all modalities.

Team Development and Support:

  • Coordinate and support the efforts of the instructional design team.

  • Work with the Distance Learning Coordinator to coordinate team support for education and faculty learning communities.

  • Provide individual consultations to faculty to enhance their instructional design and teaching practices across all modalities.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Assist in managing resources for instructional design and professional development initiatives, ensuring efficient use and alignment with strategic priorities for programs across all modalities.

Professional Development, Training, and Support:

  • Design and deliver professional development programs and workshops for faculty and staff, focusing on instructional design and technology-enhanced learning across all modalities.

  • Support continuous learning and improvement among faculty through coaching, mentoring, and providing resources for instructional design and technology integration.

Other Duties:

  • Attend MSVCC meetings and committees to represent Hinds Community College and contribute to regional discussions on instructional design.

  • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices in instructional design.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Instructional Design and Technology or other authorized personnel.
