A Brief Overview

Conducts assessments of clinical patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. The Neuropsychological Technician requires a specialized knowledge of standardized administration and scoring procedures for Neuro and Psychological tests. The Neuropsychological Technician is responsible to coordinate with the NeuroPsychologist to provide care to patients to include implementing an appropriate testing environment, data collection, and the administration and scoring of tests. The Neurophyschological Technician will assist with the with documentation of written reports. This position will also collect appropriate medical information from potential patients and release reports as requested. This position may instruct trainees in appropriate test administration to ensure assessments are conducted properly. All of these areas may involve providing assessments, facilitating treatment and crisis intervention of clientele. Providing community/education services will be a part of this position and some travel is occasionally required.

What you will do

  • Experience and/or professional knowledge or administering, compiling, and scoring results from neuropsychological and psychological tests.

  • Provides explanation of assessments to patients, families, and to collaborating services.

  • Promotes the neuropsychological programs and services within hospital departments, our health system, and within the community/region as appropriate. To include presentations and other educational services.

  • Provides skill and knowledge of individualizing test batteries based upon client/patient need.

  • Knowledge of testing protocols and assessments for neuropsychology and psychology. Knowledge and understanding of psychiatric diagnostics and clinical presentations of patients.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish rapport with clients and patients.

  • Maintains accurate and concise records through appropriate and timely documentation of services and any pertinent information involving client/patient care.

  • Assists with the analysis and collection of data for Performance Improvement as appropriate/requested.

  • Assists in the collection of patient records such as clinic notes, neuroimaging results, and previous neuropsychological evaluations.

  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies and ordering all neuropsychological test materials as necessary.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Psychology or a work-related field/discipline

  • Drivers License - Licensing Board and insurable by Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier. Upon Hire

  • Certified Psychometrist (Psychometry) - Board of Certified Psychometrists (CPS) Certification as a Board Certified Specialist in Psychometry through the Board of Certified Psychometrists within 3 Years

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years progressively responsible and directly related work experience

  • 1-3 years clinical experience with administration of psychological/neuropsychological tests and/or behavior observation with patients
