What will you do as a Accounting and Payroll Specialist?
As part of the Business Support Services Team, the Accounting and Payroll Specialist will be organized and detail oriented. In this role, you will assist in processing payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting day-to-day accounting functions. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within the finance department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Support:
Assist in processing employee payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of pay.
Help track employee time records, leave balances, and overtime.
Aid in validating payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other withholdings.
Assist in the preparation and distribution of pay stubs and tax forms (e.g., W-2s, 1099s).
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and resolve discrepancies as needed.
Accounting Support:
Assist with basic accounting functions within the Accounting/Accounts Payable Department
Assist with Personal Property Reporting
Help maintain general ledger entries and reconcile bank statements.
Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
Process and track employee expense reports and company credit card transactions.
Support in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Administrative Duties:
Assist in organizing and maintaining accurate financial files and records.
Help with the preparation for audits by providing necessary documentation.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and payroll regulations.
Other Responsibilities:
Provide general administrative support to the accounting and payroll teams as needed.
Perform ad-hoc tasks or special projects as assigned by senior accounting or payroll staff.
Stay updated on payroll and accounting regulations to ensure compliance.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Familiarity with accounting software (experience with Dynamics 365 and Paylocity is a plus).
Basic understanding of payroll systems, tax deductions, and accounting principles.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of experience in payroll processing and accounting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work in an office environment; sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time; may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.
Work involves walking, talking and hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus when using computer terminal.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment can be moderately noisy due to manufacturing and/or warehousing equipment in operation.
Working hours are from 8 am to 5 pm depending upon schedules and the season, Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch break, and 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be required occasionally.
