Kelly Services Quality Control Technician in Rancho Cucamonga, California

Kelly Science & Clinical is excited to connect you with this Quality Control Technician position at a leading food company in Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Summary: The Quality Technician is responsible for performing quality inspections, documenting results, and conducting lab tests on incoming and outgoing products. This role assists in corrective actions, prepares for audits, and aids in training new technicians, among other assigned duties. Note: This description outlines essential functions but does not limit the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Wage: $23/hour DOE

  • Shift: Starts at 3pm with possible OT-and Alternating Saturdays

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Production Planning Schedule (PPS) is up to date and compare it with the operational schedule.

  • Perform and document lab testing, including grabbing samples from the production line for batch release.

  • Conduct quality checks on finished products, verifying that temperatures, weights, and labeling are within specifications. Report any issues to the supervisor or manager.

  • Inspect incoming glass on the line and review paperwork during line checks for label verification.

  • Test and document results for incoming bulk tankers, ensuring compliance with specifications and reporting any issues.

  • Assist on production lines during emergencies by stacking, dumping, or working at inspection stations.

  • Oversee the startup process for any rework or hold rework, ensuring inspections are conducted properly.

  • Collaborate with production staff, shift supervisors, and quality management to resolve issues.

  • Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and be vigilant about food safety concerns.

  • Report all rejected products to operators and shift supervisors, following through until defects are corrected.

  • Place products on hold as necessary, complete required reports, and inform the Shift Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and hygiene.

  • Perform general microbiological analyses, including testing for yeast/mold, lactobacillus, aerobic count, and allergen swabs.

  • Pull product retention samples and conduct specified tests as required.

  • Complete inventory transfer documentation for pulled samples and certificates of analysis.

  • Assist in training new Quality Assurance Technicians.

  • Utilize various lab equipment, including auto titrators, spectrophotometers, weigh scales, gas chromatographs, pH meters, and turbidity meters.

  • Fill in for other Quality Assurance Technicians as needed.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Manager.

  • Assist in maintaining company quality standards and ensure product quality and safety.

  • Always work in a safe manner.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in a science-related field preferred.

  • 2 years of experience in quality assurance preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Positive work attitude.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and carry approximately 20 lbs.

  • Capable of learning and performing complex policies and procedures.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
