Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The incumbent demonstrates competency in patient care for neonate pediatric adult and geriatric patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner will perform arterial punctures continuous ventilation airway maintenance emergency care infection control isolation procedures maintenance and operation of mechanical ventilators cardiopulmonary resuscitation and medical gas administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires previous clinical experience and completion of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program and be eligible for CRTE credit through active membership in the AART or able to exhibit the following knowledge skills and abilities.

  • Knowledge of: anatomy physiology pathology and pathophysiology of the cardiorespiratory system biomedical electronics basic mathematics chemistry physics and psychology; pharmacology relating to respiratory therapy.

  • Ability to: deal with agitated ill and uncomfortable patients; maintain confidence of patients; communicate effectively with staff patients and families; remain calm and be reassuring to patients and families; work under stressful conditions with frequent interruption; keep accurate and complete records; coordinate several assignments and establish work priorities; work in harmony with other therapists.

  • Candidates must have a CA RCP and CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications based on facility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree

  • Registration by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred

  • Five years of experience in direct and indirect respiratory care services including (but not limited to) the administration of pharmacological diagnostic and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement a treatment disease prevention pulmonary rehabilitative or diagnostic regimen prescribed by a physician and surgeon.

Pay Range

$60.78 - $60.78 /hour
