What will you do?
In this role, the Senior Manager will support the Integration Management Office (IMO) Finance team and newly acquired businesses in all aspects of Finance activities associated with integrations. This role primarily focuses on synergy planning, including both revenue and cost optimization, as well as the integration of Finance and Accounting systems and processes. The level of Finance involvement will vary based on the acquisition. The incumbent will collaborate with various workstream leaders and finance business partners across multiple functions within Thermo Fisher, including Accounting, FP&A, Financial Reporting and Systems, Legal, and Tax/Treasury.
Key responsibilities include gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to support a wide range of integration activities.
Key activities include:
Support activities concerning the detailed planning and tracking of synergy initiatives, both revenue and cost, working with cross-functional teams across the enterprise.
Collaborate with the Corporate Development team to deliver a clear overview of all synergy assumptions made in the Deal Model. Ensure there is distinct precision between the set-up assumptions made between the Standalone Case and the Integrated Case.
Guide the planning portion of the synergy workstream, ensuring comprehensibility of the plan (owners, dates, financial targets, etc.). Communicate all requirements and timelines related to the project plan back to the working teams.
Deliver comprehensive tracking, result consolidation, and variance analysis across multiple initiatives. Identify potential gaps in the plans to facilitate timely remediation efforts.
Prepare management reporting packages and presentations to be shared with senior management.
Coordinate and help to lead across the various Finance functional integration workstreams, with a focus on FP&A related activities but with ability to be flexible and support where needed in other areas of Integration Planning, such as Treasury, Travel/Expense.
Lead quarterly accretion reviews with the Corporate Finance team, providing details and insights related to business performance versus deal model.
Serve as a role model leader to the acquired company finance teams, guiding them through the variety of changes that occur during the integration process.
Support other ad-hoc projects, as needed.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
Experience
Preferred: 10+ years of consistent business growth in a large global company, with roles involving increasing responsibilities.
Experience with key financial systems and familiarity with core accounting concepts and financial statements.
Prior experience in working with internal and external partners to set and coordinate expectations, achieve project outcomes, and drive resolutions is desirable.
Experience in project/program management, risk management, and customer communication.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Must be familiar with the Thermo Fisher financial system environment, including CMR, HFM, FDMEE, etc.
Skilled in interpreting financial results and performing detailed analysis.
Strong team building skills working with a diverse group of people, even if geographically dispersed.
Outstanding collaborator with excellent interpersonal abilities.
Meticulous attention to detail coupled with robust analytical and operational capabilities.
Proficient in verbal and written communication, adept at summarizing and conveying information succinctly and efficiently.
Competent in analyzing extensive datasets to identify elements requiring further investigation and remediation.
Self-motivated and able to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Exercises sound judgment in handling confidential and proprietary information.
Possesses comprehensive proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, with additional familiarity with Smartsheets being valuable.
