Zurich North America is currently seeking Senior Quality Underwriter to join our US Middle Markets team. This role will report to the Head of Middle Markets Underwriting Quality, and can be seated remotely in the United States.
The key purpose of this role will be to contribute to the development and implementation of underwriting quality and governance strategies, plans and processes in order to provide assurance that the underwriting business operates efficiently, effectively and in accordance with agreed rules and frameworks.
Key Accountabilities include:
Participate in and lead quality reviews, where appropriate
Liaise with Market Facing Underwriting to address quality issues including calibration and individual coaching opportunities
Provides expert counsel and guidance to underwriters. Supports training activities. Provides training support from a technical underwriting standpoint.
Develops and monitors underwriting quality initiatives analyzing the drivers of quality within the portfolio. Makes recommendations for improvements.
Assist with the implementation and on-going monitoring of underwriting improvement initiatives across all Middle Market.
Significantly contributes to process improvement and innovation. May be involved in operational change activities relative to Middle Market.
Contributes to, and leads (where appropriate) the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of governance tools and quality control peer review processes.
Provides consultative support on local governance processes and practices.
Addresses governance and regulatory issues.
Interfaces with internal departments such as Claims, Technical Underwriting, and Underwriting Support to manage problem resolution.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Insurance areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Insurance area
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree with 3 or more years of insurance industry experience
Strong verbal, listening and written communication skills
Ability to be an effective team player
Ability to handle multiple and varied complex assignments
Strong problem solving skills
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. In compliance with local laws, Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range for each role. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary rangefor this position is$115,000.00-$165,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
