Project Manager ( Specializing in MEP Design, Commissioning, and Energy Projects )
Position Profile: Project Manager (Specializing in MEP Design, Commissioning, and Energy Projects)– Facilities Practice Area (PA). The position requires the ability to serve in a key capacity as the Project Manager on studies, planning, design, commissioning, and energy projects served by Hanson’s facilities. This person is expected to take a leading role in the advancement of Hanson’s government market which focuses on state, federal, higher education, healthcare and other quasi-governmental clients. Serve as a project manager for projects undertaken within any of Hanson’s regional offices or market units. Primary responsibilities will include:
Lead efforts in the procurement of studies, planning, and design and related contracts such as energy and commissioning.
Ability to serve as a client account manager for multiple clients.
Coordinate the activities of project staff by collaborating closely with Hanson’s discipline managers. Prepare and assemble construction documents including plans, specifications, and related contract documents, and contributing to writing reports for design, commissioning, and energy projects.
Work with mechanical, electrical, commissioning, energy, civil, architectural, and structural staff and subconsultants.
Effectively managing all aspects and phases of projects (such as scope development, staffing, budget, proposal preparation, earned value management, schedule, technical performance, and client relationship management).
Practice good risk management throughout the project life cycle.
Champion quality assurance practices.
Participate in the evaluation of the performance of project staff.
Coordination of project priorities with various practice and discipline leads.
Engage in pragmatic problem solving with ability to work on a variety of project types concurrently.
Technical Skills:
Top candidates will possess experience utilizing earned value management and project management related software tools.
Knowledge of facility design, construction, and operations required.
Excellent writing and presentation skills are needed.
Knowledge of project/client development including client account planning, business development, and proposal preparation.
Ability to read, write, and understand scope statements/statements of work contained in agreements.
Ability to prepare and review proposals and make recommendations for strategies supporting a winning plan.
Ability to conduct meetings both internal to Hanson and with the client and contractor, including meeting minute preparation.
Desire to become a trusted advisor to clients and a business partner with subconsultants (develop and maintain relationships in support of business development and execution of projects).
Manage all aspects of the project process.
Soft Skills:
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and/or public stakeholders, including attending and/or facilitating project and programming related meetings.
Ability to build effective relationships with industry peers, coworkers, and external client bases, including the ability to collaborate across multiple geographic locations.
Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skills.
Interest in experiencing a variety of assignments concurrently and effectively multitask to complete project tasks under accelerated conditions, when needed.
Comfortable negotiating professional service fees with clients and subconsultants.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or related field.
PE licensure preferred, or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
PMP certification preferred.
Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of eight (8) years of facility related project management experience.
Experience interacting with, and application of technical requirements related to State and Federal agency projects is preferred, but not required.
