Pearson Product Content Manager in Raleigh, North Carolina

Pearson’s PRoPL interim assessment is intended to represent individual state academic standards with rigorous content, mirroring state summative assessments. The Product Content Manager will track and oversee new content development for this assessment and for other uses, as well as support assessment design and the ongoing evidence collection to support its validity argument. The Content Manger must have experience working with content experts to design and evaluate assessment blueprints and specifications, as well as the ability to conduct research to inform future product decisions. Be responsible for updating the test design and blueprints for Math, ELA, Science and Social Studies, as defined by the PRoPL Director. The Content Manger will work with Content subject area leads to ensure that the test maps created for each administration support design.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, evaluating, and updating the assessment design and specifications of the PRoPL assessments as defined by the Director of PRoPL.

  • Work collaboratively with Assessment Specialists/content subject-matter experts to ensure published tests match the intended design and adhere to all specifications.

  • Inform product decisions, through research, on topics such as K-2 assessment features, as well as new leveraging new item types and capabilities in the measurement of student knowledge, skills, and abilities across content areas.

  • Track items in various stages of development, field testing, and operational use across multiple customers in support of the item development plan for each customer.

  • Implement processes that facilitate reviews by accessibility experts. Account for accommodated versions of items.

  • Implement processes that facilitate reviews by culturally responsive assessment experts. Account for modified versions of items.

  • In collaboration with psychometrics, conduct gap analysis and provide recommendations for additional content development in support of various needs.

  • Support the Director of PRoPL with business cases and investment opportunities to improve or expand PRoPL.

  • Support Assessment Specialists across English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies with required handoffs to vendors and by tracking vendor deliverables. Track item status for payment.

  • Support innovation with piloting new ways to align content across multiple state standards, setting up and tracking metadata fields in authoring systems to capture the alignments.

  • In collaboration with the Content Leads, accurately capture item development processes and specifications in technical documentation and in support of marketing collateral.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • K-12 teaching experience preferred

  • At least three years’ experience in the creation of formative, interim, and/or summative assessment content or management of content development.

  • Experience managing content creation vendors, including quality and schedule management

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills

  • Strong understanding of the assessment development lifecycle and workflows for item development

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and ability to coordinate multiple activities and adapt to unexpected events required

  • Skill in evaluating, creating and/or providing input on project schedules and process documents required

  • Broad knowledge of common software programs, strong technology skills, and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar projects required

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $115,000 - $125,000.
