Amergis Adaptive Instructional Assistant in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Title: Instructional Assistant

Location: Raleigh, NC

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Classroom Teacher and Special Education Coordinator

Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Instructional Assistant to support students in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have mobility issues and will assist in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.

Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with mobility issues, ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities.

Help students with physical tasks such as moving between classrooms, using adaptive equipment, and participating in physical education.

Monitor and support students’ academic progress and behavior, providing feedback to the teacher.

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that respects and values diversity.

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with mobility issues.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, adhering to school policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.

Previous experience working with students with mobility issues is required.

Knowledge of adaptive equipment and techniques for supporting students with physical disabilities.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and assist students with mobility issues as needed.

Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
