Salary Placement and Work Hours:This is a 9-month position, placed on the D-1 Salary Schedule with a pay range of $45,676-$92,513, depending upon degree and verified, applicable work experience, at the President's discretion. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 35 per week. An additional summer appointment period is possible, with a pay range of $14,104-$28,612, depending upon institutional needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

JOB TITLE:Nursing Instructor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The Nursing Instructor must teach nursing courses; assess student performance; advise students; participate in college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and grades; and assist in registration. In addition, this position must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), and Northeast Alabama Community College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In accordance with course syllabi and schedule of classes, teach courses as assigned
  2. Organize, instruct, and supervise students as assigned
  3. Prepare course syllabi and objectives in conjunction with departmental guidelines
  4. Participate in selection of texts and teaching materials
  5. Serve as academic advisor for students as assigned, including utilizing advising software
  6. Participate in all student registration periods and work closely with students to adjust schedules per the college drop/add process
  7. Recommend appropriate library resources, instructional equipment, and curriculum improvements as necessary to maintain an effective program
  8. Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of nursing curricula to insure maximum student competency
  9. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College
  10. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in ACCS and College policies and as approved by the President
  11. Attend all faculty meetings, in-service, and convocations
  12. Participate in the Colleges planning process
  13. Serve on institutional committees as assigned
  14. Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education
  15. Recruit students for the College
  16. Agree to teach day and evening classes, on- and/or off-campus, and distance education classes
  17. Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
  18. Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
  19. Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
  20. Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Competency in the use of current educational technologies ispreferred
  2. Effective oral and written communication skills

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. Masters degree from a regio ally-accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in the subject isrequired
  2. An active unencumbered Alabama registered nurse license isrequired
  3. Experience in medical/surgical, acute care, and critical care nursingpreferred
  4. Teaching experience at the community college level ispreferred
