Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, this position plays a key role in the Center for Career & Talent Development in helping students become career and life ready. The Career Coach, in collaboration with their academic and industry partners, fosters an innovative culture of career advising and assists students in exploring a diverse array of career pathways that lead to internships and full-time jobs. The position will help serve the Davis College of Business by assisting students in writing resumes and cover letters, conducting mock interviews, learning about career networking strategies and creating LinkedIn profiles. Collaborate with the Center’s Employer Relations team to cultivate partnerships with business and industry to identify “world class” career opportunities and internships for students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience advising and coaching college students on self-assessment, career awareness, career exploration, resume writing, career networking and interviewing skills.

  • Proven experience to effectively engage students from marginalized backgrounds including first generation students.

  • Demonstrated presentation skills and exceptional ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with a variety of people including students, faculty, staff, employers, parents and other stakeholders.

  • Possess a growth mindset with an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make independent decisions exercising sound judgment.

  • Demonstrated expertise utilizing such software programs including, but not limited to Microsoft Office, Handshake, Career Shift CRM , Big Interview, and Pathway U.

  • Highly organized with an attention to detail that results in accuracy in daily work, with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

  • Ability to understand emerging hiring trends by maintaining professional connections and monitoring changing market conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Prefer at least 1 year of experience working in a college and/or university Career Center, Student Success operation, experiential learning working environment, and/or early talent recruiting program with a company or organization. Advanced project and program management abilities. Ability to coach a diverse population of students. Ability to cultivate and nurture relationships with faculty, alumni and industry partners. Previous experience with internships, co-ops, and other work-based learning programs within industry or higher education.
