HealthFitness is seeking an experienced, full-time (30 hpw) Assistant Program Manager to support our corporate client site in Racine, WI. In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and delivering programs while working onsite as part a team of 100+ HealthFitness employees to provide outstanding service to members & program participants in order to maximize participation, outcomes, and customer satisfaction. Flexible schedule and may include some evening and weekend hours. Day-to-day duties include, but are not limited to:
Supervision of fitness room, group fitness studio and equipment. Collaborates on 10-week look ahead scheduling for fitness classes.
Assists with the hiring, training, and supervision of 40-50 part-time employees in the fitness department including Fitness Floor Attendants, Group Exercise Instructors, and Personal Trainers.
Maintains a safe, clean environment for members including cleaning, scheduling maintenance of equipment, and adhering to current precautions. Weekly visits to all 5 local client site fitness facilities.
Provides individual and group exercise instruction. Educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
Enrolls new participants and conducts facility, program and equipment orientations.
Oversees and is responsible for area specific budgets including tracking fitness participation, expenses, revenue generation and retirement of equipment.
Collaborates in marketing, promotion and outreach in collaboration with the Program Manager.
Assists with Aquatics programming and related staff as needed.
If certified, may provide personal training and teach group exercise classes for additional hours.
What you'll bring with you:
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Kinesiology, Recreation, or related discipline and 1+ year of direct professional fitness setting experience OR equivalent combination of education, current certifications and experience.
Current Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute.
Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NETA, NCCPT or other NCCA accredited specialty certification (required within 60 days of hire).
Personal Training certification from an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved provider (required within 60 days of hire).
Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing and promotions.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.
Ideal candidates will also have ARC Lifeguard Certification.
Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test and driving record check.
