Title: Calibration & Service Technician - Apprentice

  • Reporting Relationships

  • Position Reports to: Service Manager

  • Core Responsibilities of this Role

  • Calibrate, repair, install, and integrate weighing and measurement equipment including but not limited to scales and balances. Devices may range from high precision laboratory equipment to truck scales.

  • Enter data into Precision Solutions’ service software in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Maintain expert knowledge of calibration procedures within ones’ areas of responsibility and leverage this knowledge to better-serve our customers.

  • Establish, nurture, and maintain positive and productive relationships with all coworkers, customers, and partners.

  • Unwaveringly demonstrate best-in-class customer service for our customers across all industries.

  • Essential Functions

  • Shadow senior technicians and the service manager in the field in order to develop a core understanding of calibration and repair services.

  • Learn about and maintain proficiency in the technical aspects of our products and services as well as related regulations, safety procedures, and industry best-practices.

  • Assist with calibration and repairs of scales and balances in tandem with senior technicians, both at customer facilities and at Precision Solutions’ facility. Customer job sites range from clean-room, laboratory environments to outdoor, industrial manufacturing environments.

  • Repair scales and balances at customer facilities and at Precision Solutions’ facility. Repairs require both mechanical and electrical repair skills and specific knowledge of scale and balance technology.

  • Perform installations of equipment sold by Precision Solutions including scales, balances, industrial printers, and associated equipment.

  • Perform test weight and mass calibrations at Precision Solutions’ lab.

  • Perform all duties in conformance to Precision Solutions’ quality system.

  • Sustain prompt correspondence with coworkers and customers via phone and email throughout the work day.

  • Enter data into Precision Solutions’ service order software in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Perform emergency scale and balance repairs, as needed, which may include nights and weekends.

  • Maintain strong relationships with all customers through timely and accurate service execution, thorough communication, and a consistently professional demeanor.

  • Actively look for ways to grow Precision Solutions’ and ATS’ business with existing customers.

  • Establish, nurture and maintain positive, solid and productive relationships with all Precision employees.

  • Attend training sessions or other meetings and conferences offered by Precision Solutions, our vendors or others.

  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

  • The Technician records service order data in a timely and accurate manner such that we are delivering exceptional customer service on a regular basis.

  • Qualifications

  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Excellent rapport and relationship building with customers and coworkers. Exceptional customer service and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communications, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work in an unstructured environment. Technical skills to include equipment calibration, electronic and mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance, and Microsoft Office Suite. Must be a proficient PC computer user and able to learn and adapt to new software applications and procedures quickly and accurately.

  • Valid Driver’s License:Clean driving record required.

  • Experience: Prefer a minimum of three years’ experience in calibration or related field.

  • Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work environment varies based on customer facility. Must be able to repeatedly lift 50 lb and work on equipment standing, sitting, kneeling or bending.

  • Management Level: Works under minimal supervision, exercises high degree of discretion and independent judgment. Candidate should be highly motivated.
