Available Title(s): 626L-YYCSNPS - Maintenance Mechanic 3 Business Title: Maintenance Mechanic Lead Employee Type: Classified Position Details: Summary of Duties: Leads lower level mechanics in the inspection, testing, operation and maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems of campus facilities. This position requires a good working knowledge of several related skill fields such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, welding and machinist work. Duties include completing preventative maintenance (PM) work orders and overseeing the completion of these in Aim. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the fans, motors, pumps and other rotating equipment associated with campus buildings. Work with hydraulics systems and their associated components including repair and maintenance. Installation of bearings with varying types, which may require unique or unusual hoist arrangements for support or removal of equipment during the process, and fabrication if necessary. Required Qualifications: • High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and one year of journey-level experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work or equivalent education/experience. • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/ and departmental driving standards. • Ability to work a flexible schedule and be available in emergency situations. • Demonstrated physical ability to do required work. Preferred Qualifications: • Four (4) years of experience in a Journey Level Trade, with one (1) year of experience in another Journey Level Trade: Refrigeration, Plumber, Electrician, Control Tech, etc. Experience in building operations/maintenance. • Skill in performing planned and preventive maintenance and repair of all types of air compressors, vacuum & condensate pumps, and fans for hot and cold domestic water pumps. • Extensive experience using machine shop equipment: drill presses, band saws, welders, etc. • Experience in improvising, designing and implementing solutions in emergency situations on site in a short turn around with limited resources.
