Day to Day Duties :

  • Act as a Surgical First Assistant on surgeries.

  • Work closely with the surgeon in a hands-on capacity, helping the surgeon by handling vital tasks such as prepping the patient for surgery, providing suturing, clamping, removing scar tissue and positioning patients during surgery to ensure a safe operation.

  • Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs.

  • Maintaining and updating preference cards.

  • Perform preoperative and post operative care as directed by surgeon to facilitate proper patient care

8 OR Suites

Approx. 180-200+ cases per month

Schedule- 36hrs/wk- Variable shifts per surgical volume and current unit needs

Call is required for most positions. Variable per needs/ surgical volume of unit. Call in rotation with team.

30Min callback radius required

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Three years operating room experience

  • General knowledge of asepsis, healing, infectious disease process, surgicalanatomy and physiology, safety issues and operative techniques

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Assistant program required

  • Certified as a one of the following: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA; Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA; Surgical Assistant–Certified (SAC) by ABSA

  • Registered through DORA as a Colorado Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist License upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Coloradoemployed staff only)

  • BLS from the American Heart Association required

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

The Surgery department at St. Mary-Corwin offers a variety of service lines including ENT, General, Ortho/Spine and Urology. Robotic-assisted total knee and hip replacements are an exciting addition to our orthopedic service line. We have eight ORs, three endoscopy suites and a perioperative unit consisting of 23 pre/post beds. We average 45 surgical cases per week, and 15 endoscopy cases per day. We strive to maintain safe, high-quality care throughout the entire surgical and perioperative experience. Perioperative and operative nursing is an exciting venue of nursing that focuses on the safe preparation, procedure, and recovery of patients. This requires broad knowledge base, critical thinking skills and flexible skillsets. In the surgical and perioperative setting, we understand the value of each one of our team members and our employees are supportive and love to each other.

Pay Range: $38.72 - $63.31 / hour
