What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $13.00 - $18.00 hourly (depending on qualifications)

What will I do?
Mow grounds by hand or with power mowers.
Use power string trimmers.
Install and maintain sprinkler systems, including affixing and setting sprinkler heads.
Assist in maintaining shrubs and flower beds.
Perform general construction and maintenance work on buildings in the cemetery, itself, including plumbing and painting; operate heavy equipment, such as trucks and specialized cemetery maintenance equipment.
Use various hand and power tools in performance of heavy manual labor.
Maintain tools and equipment and perform other related duties as required.
What do I need to apply?
Any training or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the work.
Applicant must have the following: physical strength and agility to perform the work, ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner, and a knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and equipment required by the position.
What are the hours and duration of the position?
Monday - Friday and occasionally on Saturdays. Hours vary from approximately 40 hours per week during the summer to 20 hours per week during the other seasons. Exact schedule will be discussed in the interview and schedule is subject to change. The duration of the positions is through October 2025, depending upon department need.
What are the physical and environmental factors?
Applicant will be required to work in adverse weather conditions and high noise levels; and perform the following: bending; carrying; lifting heavy objects; loading; and digging trenches, holes, and other excavations.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on March 6, 2025. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
