Help Me Grow Community Liaison--Northern Utah (location: Ogden)

Program Description: As an initiative of United Way of Utah County, Help Me Grow Utah is a free statewide family information helpline designed to promote the optimal development during pregnancy and early childhood by: • linking families to information and community resources related to child development and parenting • providing personalized care coordination • creating and facilitating partnerships within the community to improve the availability and quality of services for families

Position Description: The Community Liaison is primarily responsible for increasing awareness of HMGU through community outreach in the Northern Utah area (position housed in Ogden). This includes promoting HMGU to healthcare providers, educators, service providers, and families, among others. The Community Liaison mainly does outreach by giving formal presentations, participating in community events, working in partnership with other agencies, overseeing networking events, and directing other relevant activities. In order to ensure effective outreach, the Community Liaison is also responsible for (1) developing a strategic plan on how best to expand HMGU's reach in the area, (2) formally evaluating the effectiveness of HMG's outreach activities over time, and (3) building sustainable partnerships with other early childhood partners. Additionally, the Community Liaison actively identifies new family-centric community resources for HMGU's resource database.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in social work, early childhood, health promotion or related field with one year of experience • Community outreach, child development, systems building, or nonprofit experience • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills • Valid Utah Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for use during work hours (mileage reimbursable) • Willingness to commute to Salt Lake City, UT and Provo, UT for periodic meetings • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new software applications and databases • Proficient English verbal and written skills required and Spanish verbal and written skills recommended

The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will possess a passion for supporting families and promoting the healthy development of children. They will possess superior interpersonal skills and must feel comfortable approaching, interacting, and teaming with families, community leaders, and healthcare providers. The candidate should carry themselves with a great degree of professionalism and feel comfortable public speaking in front of both small and large audiences. Additionally, they will be a self-starter who is hard-working and thorough. Spanish skills and child development knowledge are highly desired.

Location: This position is based in the United Way of Utah County satellite office located in Ogden, Utah.

Work Schedule: The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM -- 5:00 PM with some early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays required for community events and meetings.

Physical Activity: In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, walking, standing, listening, speaking, writing and operating a personal computer. Frequently, he/she will be required to drive an automobile to attend meetings or events within the community. Occasionally, he/she is expected to lift and carry office records and supplies up to 15 lbs.
