BYU Certified Medical Assistant in PROVO, Utah
The BYU Student Health Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our healthcare team. The CMA will provide essential support in delivering high-quality patient care ensuring smooth clinic operations. This individual will be responsible for both administrative and clinical tasks, working closely with healthcare providers to deliver efficient and effective care in a patient-centered, professional atmosphere.
As a Certified Medical Assistant at the Student Health Center, you will assist Clinicians while providing quality health care to BYU Students, missionaries, and other BYU affiliates, in a full-service clinic.
What you will do in this position:
- All CMA duties necessary within their scope of practice.
- Key Responsibilities: Preparing patients for exams, taking medical histories, performing basic lab tests, administering medications, injections, and immunizations including childhood. Taking vital signs, performing screening tests, assisting with procedures, working in urgent care, preparing, and sterilizing medical instruments.
- Administrative tasks: Manage provider schedule. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic health records (EHR).
- Communication: Communicating clearly with patients in person and by phone and gathering information relevant to their visit and condition. Coordinate communication between patients and provider to relay patient education, treatment plans, medication, and follow-up care.
- Collaboration: Working with cross functional teams within and outside the Student Health Center to coordinate patient care.
Critical thinking: Reporting significant changes in patient condition and other pertinent patient information to the provider.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
- Certified Medical Assistant certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, office procedures, and clinical practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to patient care.
Preferred
- 1 year of experience in a physician's office, medical clinic, or hospital.
