Certified Athletic Trainer needed at BYU, Provo campus. Job ID-132297 Location-Staff/Admin Employment Service Full/Part Time-3/4 Time Regular/Temporary-Regular Job Summary Three-Quarter-time hourly position for a certified athletic trainer to work with BYU Extramural Sports teams. This position provides care and services that are in line with the vision and standards of BYU. This position reports to the Extramural Sports Athletic Training Manager and will be assigned to an extramural sports team. The ¾ time position allows for up to 28 hours a week average, this will provide the Athletic Trainer time to cover the selected team practices, games (travel) and allow for summer camp coverage as desired. Duties included: 1) Injury Prevention, 2) First Aid and Emergency Care, 3) Initial injury evaluations, 4) Triage, 5) Injury rehabilitation and 6) Record keeping. Essential Functions Essential Functions Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation. Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion. Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each patient. Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by supervisor. Electronic documentation of all patient encounters. Communicate with team physicians, coaching staff, and athletic training colleagues regarding the injury status of athletes. Education/Experience Minimum required: Current certification through the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC). Preferred: Bachelor¿s Degree in Athletic Training or related field. National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number. 1-2 years experience in athletic training. Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications: Required: Knowledge of a large range of medical problems. Assessment, evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be required. Required : Decision-making skills including ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines. Required: Thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation. Required : Interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, coaches, staff and families. Preferred: Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision. Employee Class: 3/4 Time (28 hour) Work Location: Provo Campus Environment: Periodic exposure to unfavorable conditions.
