Brown University Bilingual Research Assistant in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

Position Purpose:

This position provides research support for a Physical Activity research study. Principal responsibilities include:

  • Assist study team with recruitment of participants.

  • Conduct phone and/or in-person surveys, visits, and measurements with study participants. Learn and follow protocols for baseline and follow-up measures. Contact participants, arrange and prepare for participant visits. Collect and enter process evaluation data, as needed.

  • Assist the Project Director and research team with translation and editing of documents to be used in the study.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Conduct evaluation of participants 40 %

  • Participant recruitment and retention 30 %

  • Data Entry 20%

  • Assist with editing and translating study documents and data as needed. 10 %

Job Qualifications and Competencies

Education and Experience

  • Required: BA or BS in psychology, public health or related field with 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Required: Must have bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.

  • Required: Must provide own transportation to research sites and be able to work evenings and weekends.

  • Required: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

  • Experience working in the community setting preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Attention to detail. Motivated and self-starting.

  • Knowledge of necessary research methodology; knowledge of health program planning, implementation, and evaluation preferred.

  • Experience in programming online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics software) is preferred

  • Experience working in the community setting preferred.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effort to meet project goals

  • Openness to and interest in learning new skills

  • One-year commitment is required, and long-term commitment preferred

  • Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community

This is a fixed term position with an end date a year from the start date and may be extended based upon available funding
