Job Summary:

Textron is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Year-Round Accounting Intern to join the Financial Accounting and Reporting Group within our Corporate Controllers team. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various accounting functions and learn from experienced industry professionals. This position will support the month-end close and consolidation process, internal controls compliance and financial accounting and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Support the monthly, quarterly and yearly close and global consolidation process, working closely with the appropriate stakeholders (business unit finance teams, tax, treasury, FP&A and shared services).

• Reconcile monthly intercompany activity, identifying and communicating significant variances.

• Analyze business unit financial results to prepare summary schedules for management and identify significant fluctuations of key accounts.

• Support the execution of the Enterprise-Wide control plan to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley 404.

• Monitor internal control plan compliance, following up with business unit internal controls teams as needed.

• Prepare internal control plan status reports and statistics for management.

• Consolidate and report corrective actions identified by business unit internal controls teams.

• Schedule and attend quarterly control review meetings with business unit & Corporate finance teams, assisting in the preparation of summaries of key developments.

• Support general financial accounting & reporting processes.

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of account balances.

• Prepare journal entries to record monthly activity for certain transactions and pension plans.

• Assist with accounting research to reach accounting conclusions for unique transactions

• Participate in special projects or ad-hoc analysis as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• Currently a rising junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field (Finance, Business Administration with a focus in accounting).

• Basic understanding of accounting principles.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel).

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Hours:

• Part-time during the semester and full-time during summer/winter breaks.

• This is an in office internship and must be local to the Providence, RI area.
