Responsible for developing fluency in elementary students in the Spanish language while teaching core skills and objectives as prescribed by state and national standards. Specific duties include: Provide and deliver classroom instruction in Spanish to students in the La ola del lago Spanish Immersion Program, incorporating the essential elements of instruction, including small group instruction and the ability to adapt the curriculum to best meet the needs of each pupil. Plan and develop instructional materials, lessons, plans, and other support activities to present approved district curriculum to students in Spanish in accordance with district goals and objectives. Evaluate pupils academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health and learning problems. Work cooperatively with other teachers, administrators, and staff to provide a secure learning environment for students. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil s progress and interpret the school program. Interact with pupils, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner. Select and requisition instructional materials; maintain inventory records. Foster a cohesive community of learners and thinkers among administrators, teachers, parents, and students. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or professional growth activities and courses. Demonstrate support of administration, policies, improvement of the school and accomplishment of its mission/goals.
