Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Description: The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Princeton University invites applications for postdoctoral and more senior research position. The research will be conducted under the direction of Professors Ning Lin (CEE) and Michael Oppenheimer (School of Public and International Affairs, Department of Geosciences, and High Meadows Environmental Institute), with possible collaborations with other research scientists in the newly established NSF-supported Megalopolitan Coastal Transformation Hub. The position involves modeling compound hazards from hurricanes and heatwaves. The goal is to better understand the physical and statistical correlation between hurricanes and heatwaves and develop better ways to estimate their joint risk evolving with the changing climate. The Term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. in a relevant field of science or engineering. Individuals with experience in modeling hurricanes and/or heatwaves, statistical skills applied to compound hazard analysis including AI methods, and a strong commitment to original as well as interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply.
