Pay Rate :

$86,800- $115,700

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Prattville Mill is a complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility with two machines. The mill includes multiple process lines of wood handling, pulping, power and recovery, and effluent treatment. The position works within the Maintenance group.

The successful candidate will be the first and foremost Safety Leader for the Maintenance Department. He or she will set clear expectations, promote accountability throughout the Crew, and deliver expected results to all customers. He or she must also support year-over-year reductions in unscheduled equipment downtime and drive compliance with annual Maintenance Department objectives.

The Job You Will Perform:

  • Enables the Maintenance E/I Crew to work safely and efficiently through training, continuous coaching and mentoring.

  • Manage daily area maintenance decisions, including staffing, work prioritization, and spending.

  • Ensure effective communication between the maintenance team and other mill teams.

  • Responsible for work execution within the department and the overall effectiveness of the Notification and Work Order System.

  • Responsible for effective participation with the MWS team.

  • Creates daily/weekly schedule and executes priority of work.

  • Plans more involved work in departmental areas and is fluent in the use of SAP.

  • Manage contract work.

  • Communicate job progress and follow up on work until successful completion.

  • Lead problem-solving and troubleshooting issues and initiate the acquisition of additional resources as appropriate.

  • Communicate results with the Crew and Operations.

  • Grow team and individual performance by including performance reviews with team members, ensuring correct staffing, training, scheduling, and development for the team.

  • Promotes Crew Engagement.

  • Effectively and efficiently manages Crew work hours through Work Brain.

  • Promotes 5S initiatives.

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred. Non-degreed candidates must meet International Paper's Front Line Leader requirements.

  • Good decision-making, judgment, and outstanding interpersonal skills are required.

  • High degree of organizational skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, functional specifications and engineering drawings.

  • Working knowledge of equipment, trades skills, work execution, and reporting.

  • Ability to work within and improve a team.

  • This position requires working extended hours often and with short notice, a strong sense of ownership and urgency, motivation and innovation, and clearly visible leadership skills.

  • Proficient in Work Brain and time entry.
