Summary: Utilizes the principles of the nursing process to provide for continuity and quality of nursing care to the neonate and family unit. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the neonate that is consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Hospital.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Requires two (2) years of college. General knowledge of a specialized or technical field normally associated with an A.A. or A.S. degree.

Experience: 3 years NICU RN Experience Required.

License: Have a current license issued by New York State to practice as a registered nurse.

Certification: Obtains neonatal resuscitation within six (6) months of employment.

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
