Nuvance Health Ambi Care Pharmacy Services Manager (Retail) in Poughkeepsie, New York

Summary:

Assists Director Professional Services with operational aspects of the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services. Is the manager of record for the Reade Place location. Helps develops and implements strategic plan. Stabilizes and expands the clinical growth of the department. Works in conjunction with the Manager of Acute Care Services to coordinate transitions of care for patients being discharged. Assists with scheduling, budgeting and marketing activities. Is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Program. Participates in performance improvement activities and educates staff about the same. Interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders. Acts as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel. Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals and DME for patient care by performing the related duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals. Criteria A: Oversees storage and distribution of all pharmaceutical items in department location. Directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals. Criteria B: Oversees inventory control -Maintains adequate supply of pharmaceuticals consistent with patient needs. Directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals. Criteria C: Promotes cost effectiveness in pharmacy services and reduces the overall number of products offered. Directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals. Criteria D: Oversees purchasing activities in a cost-effective manner.

Operational supervision and coordination Criteria A: Monitors activities of Community Pharmacy and takes appropriate action to insure efficient and effective operation Operational supervision and coordination Criteria B: Works closely with nursing and medical staff in addressing pharmaceutical service issues. Operational supervision and coordination Criteria C: Maintains good practice standards to ensure compliance with all local state and federal regulations. Operational supervision and coordination Criteria D: Resolves routine problems associated with daily operational activities.

  2. Human Resources Management Criteria A: Coordinates selection, promotion, orientation and performance appraisal processes. Human Resources Management Criteria B: Schedules and assigns staff to meet daily departmental needs Human Resources Management Criteria C: Supports other SWC areas as needed.

Budgeting /PBM Operations Criteria A: Involved in the development and adherence to budgeting process Budgeting /PBM Operations Criteria B: Oversees departmental charging procedures to insure accurate billing and reimbursement Budgeting /PBM Operations Criteria C: Tracks drug trends to monitor drug costs involved in patient care Budgeting /PBM Operations Criteria D: Oversees the daily operation of the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Program

  4. Operational planning and systems development Criteria A: Assists in development and implementation of department polices procedures and systems Operational planning and systems development Criteria B: Maintains appropriate information resources and reference preparations Operational planning and systems development Criteria C: Maintains pharmacy information system (Enterprise Rx)

  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

  6. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Other Information:

Required: Registered as a licensed pharmacist or eligible for reciprocity in the State of NY.Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy. BS/PharmD in Pharmacy, 5 years' experience in managing pharmacy services. Advanced Degree MHA/MBA preferred.

Minimum Experience: five years

Desired: Member of local, regional or national professional organizations. Meets all rules and regulations of the department including requirements or competences for age -specific or position -specific patient care standards. Participates in departmental and interdepartmental educational programs, drug use evaluation, quality assurance programs and other projects as required. Must have ability to form strong physician relations. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates record of innovation and excellence within respective area of pharmacy practice management. Must be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks/projects under heavy and frequently changing workload conditions.
