Walmart Distribution Center # 7030 Service Shop Entry Level Technician (Truck Mechanic) in POTTSVILLE, Pennsylvania

 

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of a department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and/or as necessary. Essential Functions An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices. Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback. Communicates with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (for example, customers, suppliers, associates). Completes work orders, records, logs, and other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures. Receives fuel drops by monitoring the drop to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures; following procedures for fuel additives; monitoring tank levels before and after the drop; and completing appropriate paperwork. Drives tractor-trailer through wash bay and on yard. Performs eight-point inspection of yard and over-the-road tractors according to written procedures. Fuels Walmart equipment including moving the over-the-road tractors to and from the fuel island to other locations on the distribution center lot according to written procedures. Perform vehicle inspection according to Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements under the direct supervision of a DOT vehicle inspection qualified shop technician. Performs preventative maintenance of trailers according to the fleet maintenance manual guidelines under the direct supervision of a qualified shop technician. Performs brake inspections and repair according to Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements under the direct supervision of a DOT brake inspection qualified shop technician. Makes electrical and wiring repairs to trailer light assemblies according to written procedures and the fleet maintenance manual guidelines. Maintains and repairs trailers, including lights, landing gear, interior panels, roof repairs, floors, and doors according to written procedures and the fleet maintenance manual guidelines. Maintains and repairs tractor-trailer tires by installing and dismounting tires onto and off of wheels using tire tools and machinery (for example, tire machine, tire bar, wheel dolly); and repairing flats and balance tires according to written procedures and the fleet maintenance manual guidelines.
