MTC Health Services Administrator in Post, Texas

Salary: $93,000 per year

Position : Health Services Administrator, (HSA)

Location: 805 N Avenue F, Post, TX 79356

Employment status: Full-time

Work schedule: Monday-Friday; Days

Setting: Ambulatory-like setting with short-stays and urgent care

Position summary: The health services administrator directly supervises the nursing supervisor, RN, administrative assistant, medical assistant, medical records clerk, emergency medical technician, pharmacy technician, mental health professional, dental staff and the health care providers. She/he is responsible for the management of health services and the dental program in compliance with MTC Medical and customer directives.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and manage the administrative and health services activities of the department.

  • Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the state administrator and coordinated with the manager, human resources prior to implementation.

  • Develop departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.

  • Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting health services; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall facility objectives.

  • Manage and conduct coordinated health care for inmates, other health related programs and serve as a member of the Mental Health Team.

  • Supervise and monitor Utilization Management Program, ensure medical and mental health treatment is scheduled and received.

  • Manage the Quality Improvement Program; ensure data is captured and evaluated, perform audits as necessary, oversee Q1 committee.

  • Manage the record keeping and reports on injuries, diseases and disabilities of inmates.

  • Manage in-service training in health related areas for other departments.

  • Coordinate with local agencies for planning and conducting environmental health inspections.

  • Coordinate, review and approve payment to all outside vendors, subcontracted staff and services ensuring that expenditures are within contractual and budgetary limitations.

  • Coordinate with other center staff concerning health services.

  • Ensure that health services department is in compliance with all applicable OSHA guidelines and regulations.

  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

  • Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

  • Facilitates, where applicable, NCCHC/ACA/TJC accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of efficiency and approved appropriate medical services.

  • Regular and reliable onsite attendance is required.

  • This position requires long periods of standing, walking.

  • Required to respond to emergencies which may require climbing stairs.

Education and experience requirements:

  • A nursing degree and a minimum of five (5) years of professional nursing experience with one (1) year of supervisory experience is required. Must be a licensed registered nurse (RN) in the state of Texas or a compact state. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Previous corrections experience is preferred. -- OR -- A bachelor’s degree in business management, healthcare administration or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred. At least two years of supervisory experience is preferred. Previous corrections experience is preferred. Directly related experience in lieu of formal education may be considered if approved by Sr. Director, Medical.

  • Must possess current CPR certification.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • A valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.

Post-hire requirements: Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain current, active certifications.
