The Idaho Division of Veterans Services is recruiting for a full-time Technical Records Specialist 1 position at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Post Falls.

The ideal candidate must have the ability to adapt easily to change, ensure quality work and must be able to maintain confidentiality.

In this position, the employee will be responsible for coordinating medical appointments and transportation for residents. They will also prepare paperwork and medical records for new admissions, monitor lab and x-ray schedules, track lab results, review physician orders for accuracy, and maintain resident medical charts to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.

The employee will work with staff, insurance companies and residents verifying benefits, filling out authorization forms and keeping records current.

Incumbents may also deal with public officials, business representatives, and/or the general public to identify and resolve non-routine issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain medical records for admissions, discharges, and ongoing care

  • Enter and update data, including physician orders and resident information

  • Manage lab results, appointment schedules, and transportation arrangements.

  • Scan, file, and organize medical documents

  • Assist visitors and coordinate with internal and external departments

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors

  • Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems

  • Interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments

  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system

Minimum Qualification Specialties:

Some knowledge of:

  • Medical terminology and the general benefits of Medicaid, Medicare, and major insurance companies.

  • Financial record keeping; bookkeeping practices; payroll methods.

Experience:

  • Using spreadsheet software; storing, retrieving, and compiling information in a report format using data base software.

  • Working with sensitive or restricted data.

  • Using MS Excel and MS Access software.
