Job Title: Technologies Business Development/ Account Manager

Job Summary:

The Technologies Business Development/Account Manager is responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships as well as managing preconstruction tasks for the Technologies department. The position assists in development, estimating of large and small technologies projects (telecom, access control, DAS, audio/visual), and managing those awarded projects. Day to day tasks involve conducting research, procuring project material, assisting team members during project development, scheduling, and updating project data, and reporting progress reports.

Duties and responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Develop objectives/strategies to support the company’s business goals. Work with management team to define strategies to maintain current customers and perspective customers.

  • Prepare/execute business development action plan. Work with management team to target specific customers.

  • Perform/manage research to identify/prioritize potential customers. Meet with customers to understand culture/work backlog and viability of Dynalectric’s involvement, keep a log to prioritize and discuss with the management team on a regular basis.

  • Identify strategies to create bid advantages.

Account Management

  • Provide design support. Work with project team on design-build projects & assist with design development.

  • Provide estimating support, preparing budget pricing. Work with project managers in estimating technologies projects. Participate in bid reviews.

  • Vendor/Subcontractor requests for pricing (bid stage). Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors, level quotes, select best value pricing to include in proposal.

  • Analyze project for value engineering options while considering specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and installed.

  • Develop and manage proposals, anticipate potential problems and proactively devise solutions. Create cost proposals for customers, participate in Dynalectric team selection. Serve as point of contact for post bid activities.

  • Manage customer interview process. Work with marketing to develop presentations. Prepare team members and attend interviews.

  • Manage contract review and approval process. Work with contracts department to have contracts reviewed and approved by CEO, CFO and Technologies Division Manager.

  • Kick-off projects. Manage kick-off process for technologies projects. Assemble team and facilitate kick-off meetings to ensure a successful hand-off.

  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with vendors and customers for future business.

  • Assist with price change orders as needed and be able to meet with customers to explain and defend the pricing.

  • Prepare WIP’s and report at monthly meetings with the CEO, CFO, and Technologies Division Manager

  • Keeps Technologies Division Manager and all others involved in projects current on bid progress.

Qualifications include:

  • BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field experience.

  • At least 5 years of combined experience in estimating or project management in low voltage electrical contracting or relevant field experience.

  • Current RCDD Certification preferred.

  • PMP Certification preferred.

  • Must understand construction procedures and material and project management principles.

  • Proficient with MS Office including Word/Excel/Power Point, Bluebeam and Accubid.

  • Must have excellent attention to detail.

  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to think strategically.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Working Conditions:

Mostly office based. Typical working hours for the Technologies Business Development/Account Manager may vary. Generally, Monday – Friday during normal business hours, but when deadlines approach, they may be required to work much longer hours, including some weekend work. Some travel may be required for training/continuing education.

While performing the duties of this job, the Technologies Business Development/Account Manager may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites (weather, noise, etc.).

The Technologies Business Development/Account Manager is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Direct reports

Reports to Technologies Division Manager. Will also work with Labor Superintendents, Project Managers, and Estimating Department.
