Job Summary
The IS Automation Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing automated frameworks that ensure data accuracy, consistency and integrity across various sources and platforms, as well as training and supporting users in adoption of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and other automation needs. This position seamlessly integrates validation checks into data pipelines, swiftly detects, and analyzes anomalies, and reports findings to stakeholders. In collaboration with data scientists, analysts and engineers, this position refines validation processes, evaluates, and implements cutting-edge tools, and maintains thorough documentation. Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, this position remains updated on the latest in data validation trends, guaranteeing that processes are both state-of-the-art and compliant with necessary standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain automation frameworks for validating data as it moves through various stages of the pipeline, ensuring data quality and consistency.
Implement validation checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness as it progresses from ingestion to consumption.
Utilize advanced automation tools and methodologies to enhance the validation processes, aiming to minimize manual verification and ensuring data reliability.
Collaborate with data engineers to understand data pipelines and design validation checks that complement and ensure the integrity of these pipelines.
Work with Information Systems teams, business data analysts, and other data consumers to understand their data consumption needs, and design validation tests that ensure their requirements are met accurately.
Provide expert-level troubleshooting of automation tools and CI/CD pipeline issues, offering rapid solutions for mission-critical systems.
Work with cross-functional teams to establish a CI/CD pipeline for various projects.
Provide support and training to the end users that include creating training materials, conducting user training sessions, and addressing user queries and concerns.
Educate and train team members on best practices for data validation, ensuring that validation techniques are consistently applied across the organization.
Proactively identify potential data discrepancies or inconsistencies and work to automate the resolution of such discrepancies.
Recommend and implement advanced validation techniques to handle complex data structures and emerging data requirements.
Promote the importance of data validation within the organization, ensuring that it's recognized as a critical component of the data lifecycle.
Collaborate with other teams to understand their business goals and design validation checks that ensure the data supports these goals, driving the organization's mission forward.

Experience and/or Education
Required
Minimum 5 years’ experience in data validation, quality assurance, or related fields which include:
Application of automated testing and validation frameworks tailored for data
Use of validation tools, both generic, such as SQL for data validation, and specialized, such as dedicated data validation platforms
Integration of validation processes into CI/CD pipelines or equivalent data lifecycle processes
Data discrepancy detection, root cause analysis and rectification
Preferred
Experience with data discrepancy detection within the healthcare industry
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge
Knowledge of the basic concepts of managed care and health insurance, to ensure data validation aligns with industry needs and standards
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, especially in the context of data storage, processing, and validation
Skills and Abilities
Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present data validation results and insights
Ability to apply DevOps practices, DataOps principles, and test automation best practices to data validation efforts
Ability to remain updated with the latest in validation tools, techniques, and industry best practices.
Ability to manage multiple validation projects simultaneously, especially under tight deadlines
High degree of initiative, self-discipline, and discernment to identify potential data issues proactively
Ability to learn, focus, understand, and evaluate information and determine appropriate actions
Ability to accept direction and feedback, as well as tolerate and manage stress
Ability to see, read, and perform repetitive finger and wrist movement for at least 6 hours/day
Ability to hear and speak clearly for at least 3-6 hours/day
Ability to quickly identify data discrepancies and determine their root cause
Ability to convey data validation results and potential implications clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Implement feedback from superiors to enhance the validation process
