Description

Sue Sumrell is recruiting for a hands on Controller for a financially stable service corporation. This position involves overseeing the company's accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports. As a Controller, you would play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the company, overseeing various activities related to disbursement, accounts receivable, income tax compliance, and numerous special projects.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the activities of the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely financial management reports.

• Maintain accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, and employee expenses.

• Oversee the accounts receivable department to ensure timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billing and cash receipts application.

• Ensure company income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all company income tax returns.

• Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.

• Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

• Assist executives in the analysis of month-end reports.

• Maintain updated balance sheets, account reconciliations, and an effective internal control environment.

• Analyze financial data in order to prepare reports for the executive team.

• Maintain accounting records on fixed assets, depreciation, and income.

• Manage and train all accounting support staff.

• Reconcile report discrepancies and problems.

• Display excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers, coworkers, and vendors.

• Respond to General Manager and President as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.

Requirements

• Must possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in the field of finance and accounting.

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.

• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.

• Proven experience in managing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

• Demonstrated ability to implement and monitor financial controls and procedures.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of an organization.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

• Familiarity with financial software and systems is a plus.

• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to financial management.

• Experience in strategic planning and risk management.
