Description

We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Sr. Cost Accountant based in the Portland, Maine area. The primary role will be to manage and oversee accounting functions within a manufacturing setting. This will involve tasks such as standard costing, handling variances, scrap rates, overhead rates, and capitalizing inventory value. The role will also include month-end activities, elimination entries, and consolidating multiple entities.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process and manage standard costing within the manufacturing sector.

• Perform month-end activities in a timely and efficient manner.

• Conduct elimination entries and consolidate multiple entities.

• Handle month-end accrual transactions and ensure they are accurately recorded.

• Manage and account for warehousing costs and transportation costs.

• Conduct scrap/cycle counts and adjust accounting records accordingly.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Accounting Functions, including managing ledgers, reconciling accounts, and creating financial reports

• Experience with Budget Processes, including developing, maintaining, and reporting on company budgets

• Thorough understanding and application of Cost Accounting principles and procedures

• Ability to conduct detailed Cost Analysis to identify areas for financial improvement

• Experience with Month End Close and Year End Closings, ensuring all accounting tasks are completed accurately and on time

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating spreadsheets, using advanced formulas, and generating reports

• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
