Facilities Master Electrician - Barron Center\ \ Permanent, Full-Time position, Day shift - Monday - Friday and rotating on-call service.

The Barron Center is owned and operated by the City of Portland and is Maines largest skilled nursing facility. This is skilled technical work within the Maintenance Department involving the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical, communications and control systems.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school and technical school or Trades Program.
  • Extensive experience in industrial electrical construction and/or maintenance, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
  • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of electrical maintenance and the required procedures for working on the controlled or secured areas.
  • Experience in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of constant current regulators elevated lighting fixtures and telecommunications systems.
  • Physical ability to exert the moderate physical effort that is frequently required for regular periods of time to include bending, lifting, stooping, moving of extremities and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to varied climatic conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis including snow removal.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, specifications and schematics.
  • Ability to make simple arithmetic calculations, estimate job costs and material requirements, and manage inventory.
  • Ability to operate computers and technical diagnostic equipment and ability to repair electrical\ distribution systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally (including radio communications) and in writing.
  • Ability to lead and train other employees and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Will be required to perform other work within the Maintenance Department.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Must possess a State of Maine Masters Electrician License.
  • Must have and maintain a Maine Class C drivers license and good driving record.

Salary & Benefits:

Labor & Trades Union position starting pay range \$28.31 - \$30.93 /hour.
